Star Trek XI - Some Screen Used Props

In less than a week - on May 7th, 2009 - the highly anticipated Star Trek major motion picture directed by J. J. Abrams and starring Chris Pine as James Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock will blast into theatres across North America. At the official site for the film http://www.startrekmovie.com an impressive display of positive reviews from the major media flash across the top of the web page. These include:
"Pure Filmmaking Exhilaration!" - RollingStone
"WAY COOL" - Newsweek
"The First 'Star Trek' For Everyone!" - Access Hollywood
"The First A+ Movie of the Summer" - Film.com
"Smart and breathless. A summer blockbuster." - VARIETY
"Spectacular action. ILM again raises the bar on special effects." - Hollywood Reporter

Indeed, there seems to be a universal consensus among those who have reported on the film online after viewing selected scenes, or the whole feature itself in a special screening; that this picture has sustained, start-to-finish action with a well designed plot and should be a box office success - likely ranking with the best Trek films produced to date. It is certainly time for this franchise to realize a major success with the viewing public; one that will hopefully rejuvenate interest and perhaps pull in a whole new generation of fans.

Presented below are photos of several screen-used hand props from the film, including Kirk's communicator, Uhura's earpiece, a medical scanner/sensor from McCoy's tricorder, and a phaser pistol. The first three items were on display in early January, 2009 at the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas during the Consumer Electronics Show. It is pleasing to see a definite TOS influence in the design of these new devices ...
